I am excited to write to you today and introduce a new Juniors program in the Northwest. Clam Island Rowing in Silverdale, WA has just started up this spring season.
My name is Dane Sellers and I have the privilege to coach this team as we grow. Right now, we have seven athletes who are committed to learning, developing, and competing this season and in the future. While a small team, we have already seen a lot of growth and experienced a lot of firsts early in this season.
In order to do that, we could use your help. Being a small team, we will be sculling the majority of the time on the water. Currently, we have one pair of sculling oars that we will be able to race with and three other pairs of spoons that will be serviceable for the time being.
I wanted to reach out and ask if there were any sculling oars (hatchets) that a club is looking to move on from. These sculling oars would be instrumental in our growth and development in the community and we would be grateful to receive any help along the way.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message. I want to reiterate my excitement about bringing Juniors rowing to Kitsap County. I am thrilled to see what this season and all seasons to come will bring.
I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you. If you have any sculling oars that you are able to part with, any other spare equipment, and/or any advice for a new program, please reach out.
